 Raymond Onyango has taught creative movement for over a decade. He obtained his Yoga Teachers Certificate from the Swami Vivekananda Anusandhana Samsthana Yoga University in Bangalore India.

 At the core of his practice lie simple movements performed in progressively challenging variations that have a huge impact on defining your body shape and cultivating a sense of heightened awareness of your internal health, using little more than a mat on the ground and your own body.

Kartik Masters 

Kartik is one of the most established yoga teachers in Nairobi.

He has created his own challenging blend of yoga that develops core strength, flexibility, grace, balance and mental discipline.

Each class involves an ever changing flow of postures that is intended to challenge the student on many levels :

Kartik`s yoga practice has a deep understanding of the anatomy of yoga and how this ancient holistic practice can be used to strengthen and center the mind by optimizing the workings of the brain and its connection to our body and energy centers.

Fazilah Bazari

Fazilah is a qualified and experienced Yoga instructor and is certified by the British Wheel of Yoga, UK. She has been practicing yoga for 15 years and has been teaching internationally for 10 years. She has traveled extensively and has spent a lot of time at the Bihar School of Yoga, India, where she learned the entire aspect of Yoga as a philosophy and as a lifestyle. Her teaching is very much influenced by the Bihar School Tradition, a rich classical yoga that is dynamic, wholesome and meditative.

Fazilah is also a Certified NLP Master /Hypnotherapist/Energy Resourcing Practitioner. She specializes in Personal Breakthrough Sessions with exceptional transformational tools for permanent life changes! She has touched many lives of various backgrounds with her inspiring teaching, coaching and mentoring. She has helped many transform their lives to one that is empowering, uplifting and filled with universal love, health and freedom.

Fazilah also offers various other meditative healing sessions through her presence and healing touch especially for those who are in need for deep relaxation, purification, clearing and rejuvenation. Before moving to Nairobi in November 2006, Fazilah has lived and worked in London and in Bangkok. Fazilah teaches yoga for adults, children, pre and post-natal yoga and conducts restorative yoga therapy on one-on-one basis. She is well versed in teaching Pranayama (Yogic breathing technique) and meditation.

Mandy Parkin 

 Mandy Parkin has taught Ha-tha yoga for over seventeen years and has offered holistic massage therapy since 1990. In 1995 she envisioned and opened The Lighthouse Whole Life Centre which served Nairobi with complementary therapies, yoga, T’ai Chi and a full programme of life-enhancing seminars and workshops for three years.

She has recently returned from yoga teacher training at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, Ca. with a refreshingly new approach to her yoga practice.

She teaches on Mondays at 2.15 pm and Fridays at 7.30 am for a one hour each class at the Body Control Studio at the Karen Surgery on the Ngong Road, diagonally opposite The Talisman Restaurant. Courses are open to beginners and usually span a series of six classes which, paid in advance, are discounted – otherwise drop-in classes cost 750/-.

Mandy also teaches in Kyuna on Mondays at 6.15 for 75 minutes and charges 850/- per class, again with discount for advance payment. Private classes one-on-one, or for a group, can be arranged, for pregnant ladies, children and seniors also. Mandy also offers lifestyle consultations from her home in Karen, relaxing massage in your own home by arrangement and holds regular yoga retreats in various beautiful lodges around Kenya.

Moses Mbaja
Vinyasa 

Moses Mbaja is a trained teacher working with the Africa Yoga project. He is a qualified Vinyasa  power yoga teacher having been trained by Baron Baptiste in Mexico. Vinyasa power  yoga is a flow of sequencing yoga poses from one pose to another and breathing through the movement of the poses. This yoga is a unique  form of practice that lays great stress in a principle of adaptation. Vinyasa power yoga  practice will certainly result in an overall sense of being tougher stronger and stress free both physically and mentally. It also combines alignment and form, flow of ashtanga and balance. The whole accent in vinyasa power yoga is to defy yourself  to experience a change.

His classes are on going on every Monday, Wednesday and  Friday starting from 6pm to 7pm at Abha Light which is located in Kilimani. The classes cost Kshs  300. He also does private classes at Kshs 1, 000 per hour.

    Hi Ray! am very interested in starting Yoga classes. I’ve been doing aerobics for the last 2 years and its becoming a bit monotonous. Sadly, can’t seem to get anyone offering Yoga classes within CBD! any advise?
